You might say Heath Owens has country in his genes! As the Great grandson of the Legend Buck Owens, this talented young artist shows a little bit of that Bakersfield sound in his music. Although Influenced by his Great Grandfather Buck as well as Heath's own Grandfather, Heath and his band are developing their distinct style of alt-country. Drawing influence from old school country, southern rock and 90's punk and even a little bit of jazz mixed in with some modern country their sound is finding an audience. A Legacy of Sound: Family Traditions in Music
Justin Lawrence is not your typical California kid. He grew up in Visalia, where his family was involved in training and showing Reined Cowhorses. He cut his teeth in the horseshow/rodeo world doing it all. From steer wrestling tie-down roping, team roping to riding broncs as well as showing cutting horses.While at the World Show in Stephenville, TX with his family, 14 year old Justin bought his first guitar at the local Tractor Supply. And that's where his self taught journey to master the instrument began. With a love of music, dedication and the desire to learn the Classic Tom Russel tune "Tonight we ride" he has honed his skill of guitar playing and performing into a full-time gig.By happenstance we were introduced to Justin by a mutual acquaintance Rider Kiesner who thought we needed to interview him for the podcast. Singer-songwriter Carson Jeffrey is a full-time, authentic to the core Cowboy and a part-time musician that Texans just can’t get enough of. During the week, the Cat Spring rancher disconnects completely from the music world, opting instead to fill his days building barns, fixing fences, mowing pastures and roping calves. When the weekend comes he converts to a road warrior playing more than 100 shows a year throughout the Southern region. Carson regularly sells out college bar mainstays like The Tap in College Station and The Blue Light in Lubbock. The 25-year old, Texas A&M grad released his third album, Fair Weather Cowboy on November 18, 2022. The ten track record gives fans a deeper glimpse into this cowboy’s soul. He penned every song showcasing themes about growth, loneliness, and letting loose. Fans can hear the new project "Fair Weather Cowboy” now on all streaming platforms.We met up with Carson at the Westgate Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas where he was performing during the NFR after party.
