OUR STORY

Established in July of 2024, the Musical Miles Podcast was inspired by a simple suggestion from our daughter, Kallie, after Byron unexpectedly found himself retired from a longtime career as a manufacturing executive. When she asked, "What are you going to do now, Dad?" his honest response was, "I have no idea." Without hesitation, Kallie replied, "I think you and Mom (Shanda) should start a podcast."

What began as a spontaneous idea quickly turned into an exciting new chapter neither of us anticipated. After decades spent traveling to concerts, festivals, rodeos, and songwriter events together, we realized that music had been preparing us for this journey all along, paving the way for our own miles of music.

Just two weeks later, we sat down for our very first interview with singer/songwriter Heath Clark. In many ways, Heath was the perfect choice for our debut guest. His family’s band — which included his father, grandfather, and uncle — had performed at our wedding reception back in 1983, bringing the story of the Musical Miles Podcast full circle from the very beginning.

What started as an unexpected leap of faith soon became a passion-driven journey centered around music, storytelling, travel, and the relationships built along the way. Today, the Musical Miles Podcast continues to celebrate the artists, songwriters, venues, and fans who make the live music experience unforgettable, standing out among other musical podcasts.
